MY FORD CAPRI MKIII X-PACK 3.1V6 


List of conversions according the Series X specification

Engine:  Ford 3.1V6 Essex - near of original X-pack/RS3100 modification.

Bottom: pistons +60 with CR 10.5:1, polished conrods, polished and modified crankshaft, lightened flywheel, balanced. New cam, crank and big end bearings. Fast Road clutch. Piper cam, steel cam gear, high pressure oil pump.

Top: Swaymar Superflow inlet manifold, modified Holley 4bbl 390 cfm carburettor, K&N air filter with the air induction kit, Vulcan Maxiflow cylinder heads (IN46.5/EX41mm) with alloy roller rockers, Facet electric fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator with filter.  Lumenition ignition, Magnecor cables, HGK Platinum spark-plugs. Sierra XR4i radiator, oil cooler, Raloy oil catch tank, Janspeed big bore exhaust manifolds and system. ThermoTec exhaust wrap. Oil sump alloy protection cover. More at PROJECT 200HP page.

Body:  Mk3 type with original Mk2  "SERIES-X" bodykit, Chrome parts and rear lamps from Mk2. 

Suspension:  Anti-dive kit, coilovers allround - front Bilstein GRP4/ rear Gaz. 4-link kit and Watts linkage. Polyuretane bushes.

Brakes:  Brake bias pedal box with Girling master cylinders and remote control on dash, Wilwood 6-pot calipers on front, Wilwood 4-pot calipers on rear, Ferodo DS2500 pads, vented/drilled/grooved discs; S/S braided brake hoses.

Wheels:  Compomotive Minilite 10xR13 ET-38 with 235/50 R13 tyres.

Other:  car alarm, immobiliser.

CAPRI AND ME

Many years ago this car was rusty crap after crash to a road barrier. Bought it as a my first ever car in 1995 year and felt so cool in this oyster gold CI5 legend. Restoration strted one year later and till the end of the 2003 year was capri lowered with eyecatching chrome wheels.

The X-Pack bodykit fitted in the 2004 year, 10" wide alloys appeared under GRP arches. All mechanical components incl. brakes and suspension were modified. Essex engines are  rare in my country, most of Capri lovers fitted Cologne 2.8i lumps under the bonnet but I was bitten deeply by this English agricultural lump and still have it under my skin :)

I was a Capri Club International member (1998-2003), but I felt that services and club magazine quality fell down through the years. Many years I'm a member of the Fordever Club in my hometown Brno.
